Phone calls & Phone Consultations

Why I Do Not Answer My Phone or Offer Phone Consultations

This is becoming less and less of an issue as time passes, but due to a recent interaction that was a bit less than pleasant, I decided it was time to address it in blog form.

The reason I no longer answer my phone is fairly simple.  99.99% of all calls coming in to my number are bots, scams and alerts about my cars extended warranty.  Another reason is that I am a one person show and keep my ringer off at all times so I don’t accidently leave it on to ring and disturb a session.  If I happen to have the phone in hand and recognize a number, I might answer, but it is much easier to reach me via text message.

Why do I not offer phone consultations?

The main reason I do not offer phone consultations is TIME.  My schedule is usually fairly booked during the day and I have a limited amount of time between sessions to prep for the next client, rest, stretch, eat, etc.  Phone consultations can take 30 to 45 minutes of free time that I do not have to give.

If you have concerns or questions you would like to address before your session, I recommend scheduling a 90 minute session so we can take the first 30 minutes to discuss your treatment and I can do physical assessments if needed.  This works out better than speaking over the phone because being able to visually assess clients as they walk, stand, speak and generally move provides more information for my brain to process when planning your treatment.

I understand, you may have concerns regarding your health conditions, previous surgeries, injuries etc and feel that you need to speak with me before booking your session.  Let me assure you, if you have been cleared by your physician to receive a massage, I can work with you.

It also helps weed out people who do not respect my time.

Most questions are easily answered via text message.  Here is a list of my most asked via phone call.

  1. Health Savings Accounts usually work for payment.  I do not file with insurance.

  2.  I am happy to work with you through the healing process, but will not be responsible for paperwork or notes for insurance, docs or lawyers.

  3. Being a solo therapist I do not offer couples sessions.

  4. My prices are available on my website.

  5. I work with a female focused clientele. There’s no need to try and debate this point nor send me your photo, guys, you all look like Jeffery Dahmer which does not make a convincing argument. (This is a joke mainly for other female massage therapists because it happens to all of us)

  6. I do not have magical powers. What I know is what I know.  I do not plug into any mystical source in order to “heal” you.  I am simply very excellent at what I do.

  7. What if you can’t help me? I may not be able to, but will use everything I know to try.  I  have an extensive list of docs, chiros, PTs and trainers to refer you to if you need more than what a massage can provide.

  8. My Dunn & Bradstreet score is amazing, but keep your business loans, I’m good.
